Back Post – CANADIAN CUSTOM BUILDER BRINGS HOME THE CUP!

In a spectacular season-ender, JF Launier of JF Kustoms received the coveted World’s Most Beautiful Custom award at the 59th Sacramento Autorama in Sacramento, Ca. on February 8, 2009.  Launier’s R’Evolution, the highly-acclaimed 1955 Chrysler Wagon designed and handcrafted at the owner’s Osoyoos, BC based custom & street rod shop, was hand-selected by Autorama founder, Harold (H.A.) Bagdasarian for the award for its stylization, high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout.  The Sacramento Autorama, an institution in the world of customs and hot rods, is the second-longest running indoor car show in the world. Presented each year since 1991, the World’s Most Beautiful Custom award provides international recognition for the quality of craftsmanship, ingenuity and innovation of the winner chosen from a field of vehicles 1936 to present with silhouette modifications.

For Launier, the creative force behind R’Evolution and owner of JF Kustoms, the honour is the perfect ending to a successful year.  “This award is an amazing accomplishment for me, my team and our shop.  I feel like Wayne Gretzky bringing home the Stanley Cup! Since debuting R’Evolution last March we’ve been competing against the biggest names in the world of custom cars at shows throughout the United States and Canada.  Having the Cup in our shop reminds us just how far we’ve come!”  Earlier this year JF was named Trendsetter of the Year by the Good Guys Rod & Custom Association and R’Evolution brought home, among other major accolades, the prestigious West Coast Custom of the Year award.

Although the competition season has come to a close for R’Evolution, JF Kustoms and the wagon will still be making feature appearances at the World of Wheels in Calgary later this month and will travel down to  Blackie Gejeians Invitational Fresno Autorama in March.  “It’s always good to go to the shows, I get to see all the newest products and meet potential clients but it’s going to be nice to get back into a groove at the shop too.  There is going to be an opening for a new project later this spring and I really want to keep progressing with the Riviera.” said the 33 year old builder.  And just because he doesn’t plan on attending as many shows as a competitor during the upcoming year, JF doesn’t seem to be slowing down.  To ensure that JF Kustoms remains competitive in the industry, Launier and his staff are constantly working to improve their skills through ongoing training, with his latest focus on the lost art of metal shaping.  And if that isn’t enough, there has even been mention of the potential for his involvement in a TV series.

If you’d like to be the next owner of a JF Kustoms build or have any questions don’t hesitate to drop JF a note at the shop.
